Rainbow Books

The Rainbow Books is an informal term referring to the set of all specifications, standards, and extensions for the Compact Disc format developed by Royal Philips and Sony Corporation. Beginning with the 'Red Book' standard in 1980 for CD-DA Compact Disc Digital Audio named after the red cover in which it was bound, later CD format specifications also received color names.
